Explanation of the Hadith of the Bedouin: ( ... Is there anything else required of me?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : ... If that is the case, does the statement that the greeting of the mosque is obligatory contradict the saying of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) to that Bedouin or that man
No, unless you do it voluntarily. لا إلا أن تطوع
Sunan an-Nasa'i 458Sahih (Darussalam)
? The answer is that there is no contradiction; because the intended meaning of his saying (peace be upon him)
except if you volunteer إلا أن تطوع
is in conjunction with the five obligatory prayers, just as is the case with the ten rak'ahs of the regular voluntary prayers (rawatib). So whenever a Muslim prays one of the obligatory prayers, it is recommended (sunnah) for him to pray two rak'ahs. As for the greeting, it is not obligatory for every person who prays one of the five prayers, because he may not pray in the mosque; he may not enter the mosque. That is, if the cause that necessitates the greeting is present, he must pray them, and that is entering the mosque. Likewise, it does not contradict his saying (peace be upon him)
except if you volunteer إلا أن تطوع
the statement, which is the stronger position (rajih) among the scholars, that the two 'Id prayers are obligatory. This is because these two prayers are not among the five prayers that are repeated with the coming of each day; rather, they are two prayers that occur twice in the year: the prayer of 'Id al-Fitr and the prayer of 'Id al-Adha. The same is said regarding that, so infer from it; does what preceded from the Hadith of the Bedouin contradict the statement that the eclipse prayer is obligatory? It does not contradict that. Why? Because it is prayed for a transient matter, which is the eclipse of the sun, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded it in the hadith agreed upon by al-Bukhari and MuslimThe Shaykh : as came from Ibn 'Abbas and from the Lady 'Aishah and from a large group of the Companions that the sun was eclipsed on the day of the death of Ibrahim, the son of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). So the people, or some of the people, based on their custom in the pre-Islamic age of ignorance (jahiliyyah), said, "The sun did not eclipse except for the death of Ibrahim, the son of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)." So he (peace and blessings be upon him) delivered a sermon to them and said to them:
O people, the sun and the moon are two signs among the signs of Allah. They do not eclipse for the death of anyone or for his life. So when you see that, pray and give charity and supplicate ... يا أيها الناس إن الشمس والقمر آيتان من آيات الله لا تنكسفان لموت أحد ولا لحياته فإذا رأيتم ذلك فصلوا وتصدقوا وادعوا ...
. So he (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded the eclipse prayer for this divine phenomenon. Therefore, it does not contradict the statement that it is obligatory, as some of the Imams of hadith explicitly stated. I mention among them Abu 'Uwanah in his Musnad, known as "Sahih Abu 'Uwanah," which is an extraction from Sahih Muslim. In it, he has a chapter on the obligation of the eclipse prayer. It also does not contradict the statement that this prayer is obligatory, the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)
except if you volunteer إلا أن تطوع
, as I have mentioned more than once, that the intended meaning of "except if you volunteer" is with these five prayers. So that does not contradict that something else may be obligatory on the occasion of a Muslim being exposed to it, even though it is not originally obligatory upon him. Perhaps this ...
