What is your opinion on training young people to deliver sermons in the mosques?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Yes, may Allah reward you.

The Shaykh : They practice public speaking in the mosques?

The questioner: Yes, Shaykh.

The Shaykh : Do they read the Qur'an and hadith well, or do they make mistakes?

The questioner : No, they are students of knowledge.

The Shaykh : Students of knowledge.

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh : There is nothing wrong with it; we see no harm in that. Yes, provided that they read the Qur'an and the hadiths well, as they were transmitted, without any mistakes or errors. This is because we find that some groups, such as the Tabligh group, are known for this. Sometimes one of them stands up and cannot read a verse properly. These Tabligh groups also encourage their members to be bold in delivering speeches and sermons to large crowds, and you hear from them astonishing mistakes and errors in the verses, let alone in the hadiths. In fact, one of them might open the book *Riyad al-Salihin*. *Riyad al-Salihin* is a printed book, well-cared for, and fully vocalized just like the Qur'an, yet he cannot read the hadith properly and makes mistakes regarding the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The scholars of hadith mentioned in their terminology, when warning against lying about the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), that it is obligatory for the student of knowledge to guard his tongue from mistakes and errors in the hadith of the Messenger (peace be upon him). Because if he raises what should be in the accusative case and puts in the accusative what should be in the nominative case, he falls under the warning in his saying (peace be upon him):
He who lies about me deliberately من كذب عليّ متعمّدا
Sunan Abi Dawud 3651Sahih (Al-Albani)
or
Whoever says something about me that I did not say, let him take his place in Hell. قال عليّ ما لم أقل فليتبوّأ مقعده من النّار
Musnad Ahmad 469Hasan (Darussalam)
. We used to see this when we were in Syria, and now in Amman, they make very serious mistakes, even though they are reading from the book. So if these people you are referring to read the verse as it was revealed and the hadiths of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) as they were transmitted, there is no objection to their practicing this...
