Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : The hadith
Do we kiss each other? He said: No. Do we embrace each other? He said: No. Do we shake hands with each other? He said: Yes. أيقبل بعضنا بعضاً؟ قال: لا. أيعانق بعضنا بعضاً ؟ قال: لا. أيصافح بعضنا بعضاً؟ قال: نعم
Is it authentic or weak? A comment on embracing

The Shaykh : Good.

The questioner : The topic of embracing

The Shaykh : As for the embracing mentioned in the hadith, it became clear that it has no corroborating narration. We had considered the hadith good, and the embracing was mentioned in the *Sahihah* [collection], but then it became clear that the embracing was not mentioned in the corroborating narrations, so we excluded it from the hadith. That is, the addition of the embracing is weak because it is anomalous. May Allah reward you.

The Shaykh : However, after it became clear that the addition was weak, we found in some hadiths that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) embraced one of his Companions and approved of it, so we said that it is permissible. But just as we say regarding kissing the hand, we do not make that our constant habit or custom, but only occasionally. As for travel, it is authentic from the Companions that when they met after a journey, they would embrace each other.
