If one travels during a vacation to a house he owns in another town, does he shorten the prayer there or not?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Yes, that is fine. Shaykh, regarding a person who owns a house in another town, and he travels to it and takes his family with him for a vacation, for example, to spend the summer, does he shorten the prayer or not?

The Shaykh : Is that house inhabited or uninhabited? I mean, does he have a wife there, or a son, or is there no one there?

The questioner : No, he does not take his family from his current original house, which he resides in for the whole year, and takes them to this uninhabited house?

The Shaykh : And he resides there?

The questioner : He stays there for the duration of the summer.

The Shaykh : Yes, he spends the summer there, meaning?

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh : So this depends on his situation first, and his intention second. If it is a time for relaxation and rest, such that his situation takes him out of the state of being a traveler, as is the explicit text of the Noble Qur'an, then he prays the prayer of a resident. Otherwise, he prays the prayer of a traveler.

The questioner : May Allah reward you.

The Shaykh : And may He reward you.
