The Shaykh : Yes. If a male or female student sees someone cheating in the exam hall, it is obligatory for him to report the matter to the female or male invigilator. If that does not lead to any result, let him report it to the principal or the female principal. It is not permissible for him to remain silent about it, because cheating is one of the major sins. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1315Sahih (Darussalam) And if it is one of the major sins, then it is what is wrong, and forbidding what is wrong is obligatory. If the student reports the matter to someone who can punish for it, and this cheater is then punished, then that is not injustice against him; rather, he is not wronged by this, but he is supported. Because when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sahih al-Bukhari 2443 they said: O Messenger of Allah, this is the wronged one, so how do we support the wrongdoer?
