At times they threaten to leave Albania, and at other times they threaten to expel us from it. It is known that many Albanian students of knowledge there have been deceived by this association, which has copied the Islamic one. Perhaps I will mention a word and something of the state of this Sheikhs' council, and perhaps you will say a kind word to them that Allah (Mighty and Majestic) will make acceptable in their hearts, and thereby our brother students as well. Also, regarding the creed that the Islamic Sheikhs teach in their schools, and which they also teach the general muftis, imams, and marriage officers belonging to their administration, it is the Ash'ari creed. They also attribute this creed to Imam Abu Hanifa (may Allah have mercy on him). It is known that when we speak with them about these matters and mention to them the saying of Abu Hanifa in some of the fundamental issues about which one should not remain silent, they accuse us of declaring people disbelievers (takfir). For example, when we say that Allah is in the sky and that He is above His Throne, having risen above it in a manner befitting His majesty, they accused us of takfir when we said that to them. And what hurts us is that we find many students who have graduated from Islamic universities following this methodology, and they are the ones who play this great role in managing the Islamic Sheikhs' council. So it would be good if you advised those people about what they are in, so that perhaps Allah (Mighty and Majestic) will make it acceptable to them. And what I want is for many students to be deceived by these imams who claim affiliation with this Sheikhs' council. So I ask your Eminence to call them to holding fast to the Book and the Sunnah and to the methodology of the Salaf al-Salih, which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) left us upon, and which he enjoined upon us in his last breaths, may the best of prayers and peace be upon him.
