What is the ruling on praying behind an imam whom the people behind him dislike?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : What is the ruling on praying behind an imam whom the people behind him dislike?

The Shaykh : Praying behind an imam whom the people behind him dislike is valid, but the question remains: is it better for the imam to continue leading the prayer while the people of the mosque dislike him? The answer to this is that he should not remain the imam of the mosque if the people of the mosque dislike him, because the purpose of the congregation is affection and unity, and with dislike, there is no affection or unity. So if a person sees that most of the people of the mosque dislike him, it is better for him to leave and seek another mosque where he can be the imam. Yes.

The questioner : May Allah reward you.
