The Shaykh Al-Albani’s remarks on 'Abd al-Halim Abu Shuqqa.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Perhaps I did, but if so, I will only allude to it briefly. A man who attended my lectures in Syria, in Damascus, was one of the senior members of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt; indeed, he was likely one of the students of Hasan al-Banna. He is known as 'Abd al-Halim Abu Shuqqa (may Allah have mercy on him). He had sent me a part of his book, *Tahrir al-Mar'ah al-Muslimah fi 'Ahd al-Nubuwwah wa al-Risalah* (The Liberation of the Muslim Woman in the Era of Prophethood and the Message), or something to that effect. I noticed my name mentioned in the introduction and was surprised by it, because he spoke well of me and stated that he had taken his interest in the Sunnah from the lectures he attended in Damascus. Later, he called me on the phone and said, "Did the first part of the book reach you?" I said, "Yes. Who is this?" He said, "I am so-and-so." When I heard his voice and heard a bit of how he identified himself, I said, "Is that you?" He said, "Yes, welcome." He said, "I have two more parts, and I want to meet with you to get your opinion on the book, even though I read in the introduction the reports of Muhammad al-Ghazali, a contemporary, and al-Qaradawi as well." I said, "How is it that he is a student of Al-Albani, yet his book endorses these two who do not align with Al-Albani's methodology?" But when I remembered and knew him well, I said, "I must devote my attention to him." And indeed, I promised him well and said, "I am ready to receive you and for you to be a guest in my home." And so it was done.
