Is it permissible for a woman to give charity on behalf of a deceased man who is not a relative, whether by money, prayer, fasting, or reciting the Qur'an?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Is it permissible for a woman to give charity on behalf of a deceased man who is not a relative, whether by money, prayer, fasting, or reciting the Qur'an?

The Shaykh : The correct view is that this is permissible, and that any Muslim who volunteers to perform a prayer, give charity, fast, perform Hajj, or perform 'Umrah on behalf of another Muslim is acting permissibly. However, we do not advise this, and we say that whoever wants to benefit his brother should make du'a for him, based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)
When a man dies, his acts come to an end, but three, recurring charity, or knowledge (by which people) benefit, or a pious child, who prays for him (for the deceased). إذا مات الإنسان انقطع عمله إلا من ثلاثة، إلا من صدقة جارية أو علم ينتفع به أو ولد صالح يدعو له
Sahih Muslim 1631
He said,
who supplicates for him يدعو له
and he did not say, "or a righteous son who gives charity on his behalf, or prays on his behalf, or the like." Yes.
