What is the ruling on shaving the beard?

The Shaykh : The Exalted said: , so the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered the Muslims to maintain their Muslim identity and to differ from the disbelievers. The disbelievers, as a nation, do not grow beards; on the contrary, look at their cleanliness and purity, as it is said in some countries, everything is clean, even the mustaches. In some countries, like the women, our Lord (Mighty and Majestic) did not create men distinct from women, so He distinguished men by their beards. When a Muslim shaves his beard, his state implies the opposite of what he should say, because it is from the Sunnah that the Muslim says: Naturally, the woman says this, and the man says this. When the man stands in front of the mirror and finds that he has a beard, he says: The woman likewise stands in front of the mirror and finds herself the opposite of the man, her cheeks and face smooth, and she says: So each of the two sexes has the characteristic with which Allah created him, despite his will. There is no difference between the man being male and the woman being female; he has no will in that matter. Thus our Lord (Mighty and Majestic) decreed from eternity, and so it was the completion of the decree of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) regarding men that He made them bearded, and the opposite for women. Therefore, it is not permissible for a Muslim to intentionally oppose the will of Allah (Mighty and Majestic). If Allah had willed, He would have obligated all the transgressors to have their hands dry out the moment they take the razor, and it would have stopped for them. But He did not obligate that upon the people, because no trial occurs except in this way. And it happened in the time of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) that a man saw him eating with his left hand, so he said to him: He said: I am not able. He said to him: So his hand became paralyzed and dried out completely. If Allah had willed, He would have dealt with the sinners in this manner, but the matter is as the Exalted said: So the one who grows his beard grows it by his will and choice, and the one who shaves does so likewise. The one who grows it has a reward, and the one who shaves it has a sin. Therefore, he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: that we should differ... Shaving the mustache is from here, from the edge of the lips; this is wrong. Shave the mustache so that the mustache does not descend onto the mouth, and let the beards grow, and differ from the Jews and the Christians. The Jews and the Christians, as a nation, shave, and we do not have to deceive people by saying that these Christians in Europe, a group of young men, are letting their beards grow. We say yes, but this majority is like a black spot on white skin. The Christians, as a nation, are all shaven. Therefore, they have excelled in inventing razors that make it easier for one of them to commit sin by the easiest path, may Allah protect us from that. Look here at the lesson in which Muslims afflicted with shaving beards fall: as they reversed the status of the man by shaving the beard, imitating women, they also reversed the matter in adorning themselves for Friday. On Friday, the Muslim is commanded, before attending the prayer, to look at his best clothes and to perfume himself with fragrance, even if he finds nothing but the fragrance of his family. Today, how do most Muslims adorn themselves? They go to the mosque clean and shining, and more so than the pilgrims. One goes and spends a lot of money and tires himself out, and stands at 'Arafah and spends the night at Muzdalifah, then comes to Mina, and there he wants to exit the state of ihram. The Shari'ah says: Naturally, here shaving is shaving the head, and this is the best degree. What are people doing? They exit the state of ihram by disobeying Allah (Mighty and Majestic). This is a calamity of the age. The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) says: This is not completing his Hajj, it is open sinfulness. This is not completing his Hajj, it is open sinfulness.

The questioner : He does not come out of obedience but enters into disobedience.

The Shaykh : Allahu Akbar. Therefore, may Allah reward you. We advise you all, and just as that hour said, this hospital has features. Among the apparent features are Islamic characteristics, whether in men or women. We know hospitals and departments where there are bearded men, and they threaten them with dismissal from the job or they shave. No, here, praise be to Allah, the matter is not like that; on the contrary, the same Islamic hospital is what grows its beard. And we ask Allah to make you successful in obeying Allah and His Messenger.
Al-Halabi : Our teacher, for some people, the beard is obligatory. It is obligatory for you to let it grow, it is an order of your Prophet, and so on. He said, Allahu Akbar. Do not be severe with us. I said, my brother, Allahu Akbar is greater than the one who is severe. The sheep is grazing and the shepherd is watching it. Which one is more severe, the one who is severe every day bringing the soap, the razor, and the electric shaver, and so on?

The Shaykh : Allahu Akbar. The reversal of facts is strange.
Abu Layla : A servant of the Prophet's Lord?

The Shaykh : Here, this is getting rid of "servant of the Prophet" in the Shia way, like "servant of Husayn" or "servant of Ali." So "servant of the Prophet" is shirk in the words, and therefore they changed it to "servant of the Prophet's Lord." Likewise, Sayyaf, who is one of the Afghan mujahideen commanders, his name was "servant of the Messenger," and then he changed it after he understood and was guided.
Al-Halabi : Praise be to Allah that the mujahideen changed the name "servant of the Messenger" to Sayyaf, and they opened this door, and it has come out since that day.
