The Shaykh’s remarks on those who claim that the hadiths have changed from what they were in the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), citing a hadith

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Because we have settled in your home repeatedly, informing people through oral and written study that a brilliant future awaits Islam. Why? Because this Ibn 'Amr said, “Don’t you need to remember the hadith?” And this will show you that you are trying to tighten the knots at the end of your life. Not every hadith you hear, not every doubt that enters your mind, should tangle you up and take control of you, causing you to lose all the benefits you were hearing, whether from Al-Albani or others. Of these benefits you have certainly heard, do you not remember now that Ibn 'Amr said: “While we were sitting around the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), writing from him, writing from him.” This is a second hadith, but the important point in what follows is: “When a questioner asked him, he said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, will we conquer Constantinople first or Rome?’ He said:
Rather, Constantinople بل قسطنطينية
.” And I used to comment on this hadith. Perhaps this will make you remember completely that the Muslims today, in their current state, cannot conquer a village like Douma, let alone a capital like Rome. Have you not heard this cliché?

The questioner : Yes, exactly.

The Shaykh : So why are you forgetting these hadiths the moment you hear the hadith
Do not write down the hadith from me لا تكتبوا الحديث عني
? Do you not know that there is abrogating and abrogated? Is that not so? Abrogating and abrogated.

The questioner : Yes, exactly.

The Shaykh : That is, a ruling comes, and then this ruling changes. For example, we have a hadith
"Water is for water' إنما الماء من الماء
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 112Da'if (Darussalam)

The questioner :
"Water is for water' إنما الماء من الماء
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 112Da'if (Darussalam)

The Shaykh : That is, without intercourse, we have become two old men. If a man has intercourse with his wife and she dies, but he does not ejaculate, the ruling in Islam was that he does not need to perform the full ritual bath.

The questioner : He does not need to perform the full ritual bath!

The Shaykh : You liked this... - laughs - No, I am busy.

The questioner : One learns.

The Shaykh : One learns, but the point is: “Water is from water.” The Messenger (peace be upon him) said to them:
"Water is for water' إنما الماء من الماء
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 112Da'if (Darussalam)
. And once the Messenger (peace be upon him) knocked on the door of one of his Companions. He came out, and it was evident from his features that he had been on his wife. Do you know? - laughs - He said to him, “Perhaps we have bored you.” What does “bored you” mean? It means we left you to struggle without ejaculating.

The questioner : Cut off the road.

The Shaykh : He said to him:
"Water is for water' إنما الماء من الماء
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 112Da'if (Darussalam)
, meaning you do not need to perform the full ritual bath. But what did the Messenger (peace be upon him) say afterwards? He said:
When the circumcised part touches the circumcised part, ghusl is obligatory. إذا مس الختان الختان فقد وجب الغسل انزل أو لم ينزل
Muwatta Malik 2:72
. Do you see? This is a different ruling from that one. And it came from the hadith of Abu ibn Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with them all): “The ruling that was said, ‘Water is from water,’ was in the early days of Islam.” So Islam brings rulings gradually. There is no need now for me to hit you on the head. I will remind you of the story of the prohibition of intoxicants, and the stages that the story of the prohibition went through. You have fully grasped it.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : This is from the wisdom of legislation. From the wisdom of legislation, He said to them at first:
Do not write down anything from me except the Qur'an. لا تكتبوا عني شيئا سوى القرآن
Al-Mustadrak lil-Hakim 2:138
. Why? Because our Lord (Mighty and Majestic), in His perfect wisdom, decreed the separation between the Qur'an and the hadith of the Messenger (peace be upon him), so that the Sunnah would not be mixed with the Qur'an, so that the confused would not be mixed with the clear. He said to him:
Do not write down from me anything other than the Qur'an لا تكتبوا عني شيئا سوى القرآن
Al-Mustadrak lil-Hakim 2:138
, just as He said to them:
Do not visit the graves لا تزوروا القبور
. And I have heard many lessons... and after this He said to them:
I used to forbid you from visiting the graves, but now visit them, for they remind you of the Hereafter كنت نهيتكم عن زيارة القبور ألا فزورها ، فإنها تذكركم الآخرة
Al-Mustadrak lil-Hakim 14:141
,
I used to forbid you from storing the meat of the sacrificial animals, but now store it, eat it, and give it in charity كنت نهيتكم عن ادخار لحوم الأضاحي ألا فادخروا وكلوا وتصدقوا
,
I used to forbid you from fermenting drinks in vessels, but now ferment them and drink them, except that you must not drink anything intoxicating كنت نهيتكم عن الانتباذ في الأوعية ألا فانتبذوا واشربوا غير أن لا تشربوا مسكرا
. All these rulings came with this gradualness. So the one who snatches the top of the jar from the goat does not need to gather all the hadiths. Therefore, stick to your old collection, and do not be affected by your recent hearings. And do not blame me that your hearing has become like my hearing, like my hearing, and your sight has become like my sight. It no longer comprehends...

The questioner : But just as now, if you sit next to me, even if you are far from me, I do not understand...

The Shaykh : And that is because I understood you... my old friend, I want to know you.

The questioner : If Allah wills... Yes, by Allah.

Another questioner : Just in the end, so that we are finished, that the hadith was written from the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)...

The Shaykh : Yes, without a doubt.

The questioner : And it is authentic without doubt... al-Bukhari and Muslim.

The questioner : Do not listen to the Saudis and non-Saudis. The important thing is that a person must proceed on the truth. The hadith was written from the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and it was not written only by al-Bukhari and Muslim.

The Shaykh : No, no, this is injustice. Look, Abu Sulayman, memorize this word from me. The enemies of Islam have many, many, very cunning and wicked ways to destroy Islam. Only the scholars know the schemes of these enemies of Islam. They come like, if you were in your time and read or saw the beautiful rose, it remains in the middle, like these soft, sweet grains. The bee comes and aims for this nectar, it sucks it. It comes, and our Lord (Mighty and Majestic) inspired it for this flower, that it lives. As soon as it feels that this bee has landed on the nectar, what is its value? It applies to it, and it feeds on it. I have seen these people come with these sweet, clever methods, but the ignorant one does not know how the shoulder is eaten. They come to the hadith and say, “The hadith was not written in the time of the Prophet.” First, they are liars. We have come to you with several hadiths that it was written in the time of the Messenger (peace be upon him). Second, scientific research and many, many proofs. But I am going to bring you something logical.

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : Listen, listen.

The questioner : I have tasted it.

The Shaykh : But your tasting is sweeter and much sweeter. And I know that you love logic and reason, and I know that you, why you were deceived by me in the past.

The questioner : No, I seek forgiveness from Allah.

The Shaykh : Because you were what? You used to hear sweet words from me. You stopped hearing sweet words from me. Why?

The questioner : I did not see you...

The Shaykh : I did not see you anymore, and I did not see, I only heard non-sweet words, and the confused was mixed with the clear for you. So now I want to hear sweet and very great words from you. You know that every nation, every people, has an ideal, meaning a person they exalt, they appreciate, they make their imitator, whether right or wrong, that is another research. So you know, for example, the communists have Lenin, they have Stalin. The democrats have, what is his name? George of Washington, and so on. These people, where do they know the greatness of the great ones, the ones they exalt and say, “Lenin said” and “Stalin said,” and so on? Do they have revelation descending from the sky to them like we have?

The questioner : No

The Shaykh : They do not have it. So where do they know from?

The questioner: From ... .

The Shaykh : From the book, no, that is not the intention. But those who came between them and them, years between them, centuries between them, is it not from the books that are recording the sayings of these people, and recording their schools of thought, with what is in them of good and what is in them of evil? Is that not so?

The questioner : Yes, exactly.

The Shaykh : Imagine, you now, regardless of the fact that we believe that Muhammad (peace be upon him) is the ideal for all our religions, but
so whoever wills - let him believe; and whoever wills - let him disbelieve فمن شاء فليؤمن ومن شاء فليكفر
[Al-Kahf 18:29]
, but this whole world testifies to Muhammad ibn 'Abd Allah that he is a great genius and a great politician, and he was able to free the Arabs from ignorance with his mind, without them believing that he was inspired by Allah. This man... now we are leaving the Qur'an aside because there is no place for disagreement, it is something agreed upon. But the Messenger, if we want to know how his life was, how his morals were, how his treatment of people was, how his companionship with women was, and so on.
