Are the Asha'irah among the people of the Sunnah? What is the ruling on one who loves them? And what is the ruling on one who declares those who love them to be disbelievers?

The Shaykh : Allahu Akbar. Yes.
The questioner : Our Shaykh, in this time, the Asha'irah and other misguided sects have appeared. Some of our brothers ask: Are the Asha'irah among the people of the Sunnah? And some of our brothers engage in conversation with some of their individuals who have been imbued with love for them in their hearts. We find these brothers hastening to declare these young men, who hold this belief, to be disbelievers. What is your guidance in this?
The Shaykh : My brother, the issue of declaring someone a disbeliever, I think we have finished with it, if Allah wills. It is a serious matter, and very serious. It is not permissible to hasten to declare someone a disbeliever. We said earlier that it is necessary to clarify the belief of the one who is to be declared a disbeliever. In a previous session, we mentioned that it is necessary to establish the proof against him, even if it becomes apparent from him, after he has explained and expressed himself with his tongue, that this is disbelief that contradicts the Book and the Sunnah. It is dangerous, and an act of extremism, and indeed an imitation of the earlier Khawarij, to hasten to declare our Muslim brothers disbelievers, who share with us the testimony that there is no god but Allah, who pray our prayer, fast our fast, and face our qiblah. These positive matters in which they share with us should not be discarded or given no weight merely because we see deviation in them. It is obligatory upon us to be of assistance to them in correcting their deviation. As for saying outright that these are disbelievers or that they have apostatized from their religion, this is not the affair of a sincere Muslim who knows the Book and the Sunnah. Be patient. As for whether the Asha'irah and the Maturidiyyah are among the people of the Sunnah and the community? I say that they are among the people of the Sunnah and the community in many of their beliefs, but in other beliefs they have deviated from the people of the Sunnah and the community, either toward the Qadariyyah or toward the Mu'tazilah or the like. So long as they do not adopt the methodology to which we call, which is following the Book and the Sunnah upon the methodology of the righteous Salaf, they will undoubtedly deviate, in little or much, from the straight path upon which the righteous Salaf and those who followed them with excellence are, until the Day of Judgment. I do not see that we should say that they are not at all among the people of the Sunnah and the community, nor that they are entirely among the people of the Sunnah and the community, because in reality, as Allah Mighty and Majestic said, even if not in this context:[At-Tawbah 9:102] About them, or against them?
The questioner : Against them.
The Shaykh : Yes.
