Who is the one who goes out for the call to Allah?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : But who is the one who goes out? And how does he go out? Is his going out restricted to three days or forty days? This system did not come in Islam. What prevents it from being four days instead of three if that is feasible for him? Why this restriction? If only one day is feasible for him, why three days? Why not ten, why not fifteen, and why not months? This specific limitation has no basis in the Book of Allah, nor in the hadith of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), nor in the athar from the righteous Salaf, nor in the sayings of the four Imams. We, the majority of the people of the Sunnah and the community, claim that we end our rulings and our fiqh with these four Imams. None of them mentions anything of this whatsoever. So where did this three-day restriction come from? And where did this forty-day restriction come from? And where did this going out in herds and groups come from? Did the early Imams do it this way? Far from it.
We always mention, following the hadith of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)
the best of the guidance is the guidance given by Muhammad خير الهدى هدى محمد
Sahih Muslim 867a
(peace and blessings be upon him), that no one among the students of knowledge, let alone the people of knowledge, mentions that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to send individuals from his special Companions. He sent, for example, Mu'adh to Yemen, and at another time sent Ali to Yemen, and sent Abu Musa to Yemen as well, and sent Dhuhayy al-Rumi to the Romans—excuse me, Dhuhayy al-Kalbi to the Romans—and so on. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to send the elite of his Companions, their jurists and scholars. He also sent, once, and this did not repeat in his life (peace and blessings be upon him), seventy reciters to call the polytheistic Arab tribes who lived in the pre-Islamic age of ignorance to enter Islam. They went in groups, and they were killed and betrayed, as mentioned in Sahih al-Bukhari and other books of the Sunnah. The point is that these people went out in the cause of Allah, without doubt, in the cause of calling to Allah and executing the previous verse. But did any of the general Companions go out with them? No.
Nothing of that at all. The people of knowledge, in the biographies and the history of the Companions, including Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah in his great book "I'lam al-Muwaqqin 'an Rabb al-'Alamin," mention that the Companions who were counted in the thousands of the well-organized were from the majority whom their Lord commands in His saying:
So ask the people of the message if you do not know. فاسألوا أهل الذكر إن كنتم لا تعلمون
[An-Nahl 16:43]
Most of the Companions who were counted in the thousands of the well-organized were addressed by this verse. Who are the people of remembrance? Ibn Taymiyyah says, and Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah, the student of Ibn Taymiyyah, says: The scholar Companions who used to issue fatwas, those are the majority. I mean, they reach one hundred, excuse me, two hundred, or slightly more or less. So the jurists of the Companions were about two hundred, and the duty of the rest is to ask these scholars. Do you see when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sent Mu'adh to Yemen, did anyone from these scholars go out with this scholar or that scholar from the Companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)? The answer is no, and this is the history before us. Therefore, in addition to what we said earlier, that this regulated going out, described with this characteristic, although it contradicts what the Salaf and the scholars were always saying:
"And all good is in following those who came before *** And all evil is in the innovation of those who came after"
When we speak about a matter, we are speaking about the path and the conduct that is obligatory for the Muslims who want to draw near to Allah. We are not speaking about the goodness of their intentions, the goodness of their worship, and their drawing near to Allah. This is a matter we do not intervene in, because only Allah (Mighty and Majestic) knows what is in the breasts.
Nevertheless, we have seen many of these people who go out in that going out which they call in the cause of Allah. We saw in Syria, in Damascus, Hama, Aleppo, and so on, and also in Oman, good and righteous people going out for Allah (Mighty and Majestic). But the matter is not sufficient for the intention to be good. It must be accompanied by the good intention and the good purpose with beneficial knowledge. And we threw out a word a few days ago regarding the saying of Allah the Exalted
So whoever would hope for the meeting with his Lord - let him do righteous work and not associate in the worship of his Lord anyone." فمن كان يرجوا لقاء ربه فليعمل عملا صالحا ولا يشرك بعبادة ربه أحدا
[Al-Kahf 18:110]
"and does not associate in the worship of his Lord anyone." That is, let him seek by his worship his Lord (Mighty and Majestic) alone, with no partner for Him.
And we do not doubt these Muslims, or others among those who worship Allah, even if they contradict the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).
The intentions appear to be good, and it is not permissible for us but to believe in this appearance. But we cannot do other than convey to these people that you are, as it was said:
"Sa'd brought it, and Sa'd was wrapped up. This is not, O Sa'd, how camels are brought in."
The one who goes out in the cause of Allah, the first thing is that he must be a scholar.
Then it is not sufficient for him to be a scholar in the fiqh of one of the four schools of jurisprudence, because the schools are many, and there are many disagreements in many issues, counted in the hundreds, if not in the thousands. Especially if they go to the lands of disbelief and misguidance, where there is shirk (associating partners with Allah), kufr (disbelief), lewdness, open sinfulness, and immorality, etc. They may be asked a question, and if he is not a jurist in the Book of Allah and the hadith of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and the Salafi athar, he will not be able to answer. We have a joke in Syria, they say that an uneducated enthusiast, armed with a dagger in his belt, met a man from the Jews. He grabbed the collar of his clothes and said to him: "First, become a Muslim, or I will kill you." The man trembled from fear of being killed and said: "What do you want me to say?" He said: "By Allah, I do not know." This is an enthusiast, his heart is good, but his ignorance reached him. Of course, excuse me,
And these examples We present to the people that perhaps they will give thought. وتلك الأمثال نضربها للناس لعلهم يتفكرون
[Al-Hashr 59:21]
"Perhaps they will remember." His ignorance reached him to the point that he did not know how to teach the mushrik (one who associates partners with Allah) to say "La ilaha illa Allah" (There is no god but Allah). But the matter for the one who goes out for the call to Allah is much more delicate than this joke we related earlier. Therefore, we advise our brothers, these people, and every Muslim who seeks the Face of Allah, that it is better for him than this going out, which has no precedent in any of the past centuries, to sit in one of the houses of Allah, discussing the Book of Allah and reciting it among themselves. And let there be among them a man who is a scholar in tafsir (Qur'anic exegesis), a scholar in hadith, and a scholar in fiqh. That is better for them and more pious than this going out, which was not first built on the guidance of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and then was not built on the knowledge that he should convey to others.
