What is the sign of the saved sect, and was the phrase "what I am upon and my Companions" mentioned in vain?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : I say that some people may ask: What is the sign of the saved sect that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) established in the explicit wording of that hadith and in his interpretation of the verse
And, [moreover], this is My path, which is straight, so follow it و أن هذا صراطي مستقيما فاتبعوه
[Al-An'am 6:153]
? He drew one line and drew around it those many thick and short lines. What is the sign of this path and this way such that its follower is from the saved sect? The answer, as you heard in the hadith, is as he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: that among those seventy-three sects, only one sect is saved, and he described it as being upon what the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) was upon and what his Companions were upon. In this hadith, we point out an important matter that all the Islamic callers present today have always overlooked, even some of them who are upon this correct methodology of the Book and the Sunnah. Among these people are those who do not pay attention to what the Messenger (peace be upon him) mentioned in the hadith, appending to his statement
What I am upon ما أنا عليه
. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not limit himself to saying in his description of the saved sect:
What I am upon ما أنا عليه
. Had he limited himself to this, it would have been sufficient, because what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was upon is guidance and light, as you hear in the sermon of necessity:
the best of the guidance is the guidance given by Muhammad و خير الهدى هدى محمّد
Sahih Muslim 867a
(peace and blessings be upon him). So why did he (peace and blessings be upon him) mention and append to his statement
What I am upon ما أنا عليه
, saying:
and my Companions و أصحابي
? This appending is something that many callers do not append to, even if they are with us upon the methodology of the Book and the Sunnah. Therefore, I have always and forever been repeating and circling around this appended phrase
and my Companions و أصحابي
because of its importance. Its importance is from two aspects. The first is that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was granted concise words, and that he does not speak, as the Exalted said:
(3) Nor does he speak from [his own] inclination. (4) It is not but a revelation revealed, وما ينطق عن الهوى * إن هو إلا وحي يوحى
[An-Najm 53:3-4]
. So he does not speak except by revelation, and this is, of course, in relation to religious rulings. And if he was granted concise words, why did he not limit himself to saying:
What I am upon ما أنا عليه
? Rather, he added and appended to this, saying:
and my Companions و أصحابي
, knowing that the Companions did not bring a religion from themselves, but rather they were sincere in following their Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
