What you have concluded, O Shaykh, that if Ibn Hajar is silent about a hadith in al-Fath, it is hasan, was that based on the words of the scholars or on reliance upon

The questioner : You mentioned, may Allah preserve you, that through induction it became clear to you that what the Hafiz was silent about in Fath al-Bari is at the level of hasan. Did this become clear to you by comparing the Hafiz’s words, by comparing the hadiths the Hafiz mentioned with the words of the scholars, or did you agree with the Hafiz on this based on what he mentioned in his introduction in the first volume, in the first volume, at the beginning

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : of the research

The Shaykh : We believe that the rule of the Hafiz Ibn Hajar, which he adhered to or claimed to adhere to in Fath al-Bari, is that what he was silent about is at least at the level of a hasan hadith. However, through induction, it became clear to me that it is not a consistent rule. And in many of my comments and takhrij, I criticized some of what he was silent about. Therefore, I do not believe in the soundness of the rule in its absolute form. But, in acknowledgment of his knowledge and virtue, if I do not have a specific research on that hadith which he mentioned and was silent about, I consider his silence valid, relying on his rule, until it becomes clear to me what contradicts this rule. Is the answer clear?

The questioner : It is clear, O Shaykh.

The Shaykh : If Allah wills.
