Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : I had hoped to meet with him in this gathering so that we could clarify the matter from him. The question came up in the first session there when he said that it is permissible to declare someone an innovator, that so-and-so says that acting or drama is permissible, and another says that acting or drama is a religious innovation. I think the brother said thatThe Shaykh : Ibn Uthaymeen says that acting or drama is permissible.

The questioner : With conditions.

The Shaykh : With conditions, yes. But is this permissibility practical or theoretical? I wanted to direct a question like this. The people of Makkah are present now. Is this a theoretical answer or a practical one? Let us hear from Salih. If he does not have an answer, we will hear from someone else.

The questioner : By Allah, this is the answer, O Shaykh, regarding the issue.

The Shaykh : Enough of your evasion, O Salih. Enough of your evasion. May Allah reward you with good. Why do we answer with non-practical answers?

The questioner : Because those who apply this fatwa, O Shaykh, meaning the brothers who act, do not apply the conditions that are stipulated. And in the first place, is acting or drama part of the methodology of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and his Companions?

The Shaykh : Are you with the one who says that acting or drama is permissible with conditions?

The questioner : No, I reject acting or drama in general, perhapsThe Shaykh : he has a point of view...

The Shaykh : I wanted to ask him, of course, about his point of view, but I believe that these conditions, however correct they may be, cannot be applied.

The questioner : They are not practiced.

The Shaykh : They are not practiced. All right.

The questioner : I have a question, O Shaykh, so that we can finish.

The Shaykh : No, let us test our patience. How patient are we? May Allah reward him with good. What do you have, my brother? Or have we become forgotten?
