Fatwa No. ( 2044 ):
Q: Is it permissible to depict the Companions ? We are producing dramatizations, and we have suspended one of them in order to know the ruling.
A: Depicting the Companions or any one of them is prohibited; because of the humiliation of them, the belittling of them, and the exposure of them to being targeted. Even if a benefit is perceived in it, the harms it leads to are more weighty, and that which has a more weighty harm is prohibited. A decision has been issued by the Council of the Senior Scholars prohibiting this. And success is from Allah. May Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
