The Shaykh’s remarks regarding Salman al-Oudah.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : I say that Salman and his like—some of our Salafi brothers accuse them of being Muslim Brothers. I say, I do not know that he is a Muslim Brother, but I wish the Muslim Brothers were like him. The Muslim Brothers fight the call to tawhid (the oneness of Allah) and say that it divides the ummah (the Muslim community) and tears apart the word. As for these people, in my belief—and the people of Makkah know their valleys best—they call to tawhid and teach tawhid, is that not so? I wish the Muslim Brothers were like that. By Allah, they have political work and they have what resembles rebellion against the rulers, and so on. Yes, the Khawarij (an early sect that declared sinners disbelievers) were like that; the official Khawarij, about whom the scholars have no doubt that the Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) statement
The Khawarij are the dogs of the Fire. الخوارج كلاب النار
was intended for them, namely those who rebelled against 'Ali, and that they emerge from the religion
They would pass clean through their religion just as the arrow passes through the prey. يمرقون من الدين كما يمرق السهم من الرمية
Sahih Muslim 1068a
in the well-known hadith in the two Sahihs, they are the ones intended. Nevertheless, they narrate the hadith about them and consider them Muslims, while they call to their misguidance and clarify their good points. This is among the meanings of the saying of Allah the Exalted:
and do not let the hatred of a people prevent you from being just. Be just; that is nearer to righteousness ولا يجرمنكم شنآن قوم على ألا تعدلوا اعدلوا هو اقرب للتقوى
[Al-Ma'idah 5:8]
So, if these people have a deviation, I do not believe it is a deviation in 'aqidah (creed), but rather a deviation in style. In any case, we ask Allah (Mighty and Majestic) to make us part of the middle ummah that falls into neither excess nor deficiency.
