Is my statement: "Islam abrogated the heavenly books that came before it" correct or incorrect?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh: Yes.

The questioner : During a discussion today with some of the brothers, we mentioned the Christians, the Jews, and the heavenly books. I told them that, to my knowledge, they are disbelievers. They said, "They are the people of heavenly books." I said to them, "Yes, they are the people of heavenly books. Bring me the original book, because Islam abrogated what came before it." Is my statement incorrect or correct?

The Shaykh : Correct is the opposite of incorrect, not "wrong"; "wrong" means sinful.

The questioner : I know...

The Shaykh : I am saying that you were wrong in some parts and correct in others. Because you said, "Bring the heavenly books that were revealed." There is nothing [to bring]. If they existed as they were revealed, they have been abrogated by the Shari'ah of Muhammad (peace be upon him). Your last statement is the correct one, meaning the Shari'ah of Islam abrogated the previous Shari'ahs, even if they were as they were revealed. And how could they be, when they are distorted, as you indicated in your speech? It was reported in an authentic hadith that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw one day in the hand of 'Umar ibn al-Khattab a sheet of paper on which he was reading. He said:
What is this?
He said, "This is a sheet written for me by a man from the Jews." Then he (peace be upon him) said angrily:
Will you be thrown down as the Jews and Christians were thrown down? By Him in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, if Musa had been alive, he would have had no choice but to follow me.
,
if Moses were alive he would feel it absolutely necessary to follow me
Mishkat al-Masabih 177Isnād Da'īf (Zubair `Aliza'i)
Therefore, the verses you know from the Qur'an, among which is:
And We have not sent you, [O Muhammad], except as a mercy to the worlds.
[Al-Anbya 21:107]
The call of the Messenger (peace be upon him) is a general call, not specific to the Arabs, as the Jews have claimed in the past and the present. Imam Muslim narrated in his Sahih from the hadith of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
There is no man from this community
The community of the call
who is a Jew or a Christian who hears of me, then does not believe in me, except that he will enter the Fire.
,
There is no man from this Ummah, whether a Jew or a Christian, who hears of me
meaning by the Messenger (peace be upon him) and his call
then does not believe in me, except that he will enter the Fire.
As-Sunan al-Kubra lil-Nasa'i 65:262
; therefore, whoever says that these are the People of the Book, the answer is from two aspects:
First: They are People of the Book, but it is distorted.
Second: As you heard last: If it had not been distorted, it would have been obligatory to follow the Messenger. Because if Musa had been alive, it would have been obligatory for him to follow the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). 'Isa (peace be upon him), when he descends in the end times, will judge by the Shari'ah of Islam, because the Shari'ah of the Gospel has been abrogated and superseded by the Shari'ah of Islam. Yes.

The questioner : Is there something here that is followed or a custom when a person says to another, "Knock on the wood"? Does this have an interpretation in our religion?

The Shaykh : What is this? By Allah, I have not heard of it until today.

The questioner : What I heard from some of the brothers is that they intend by it the cross.

The Shaykh : By Allah, this is the first time I have heard this statement...

The questioner : This exists.

The Shaykh : In any case...

The questioner : It is from the category of pessimism and optimism...
