Continuation of the discussion on the issue of a woman’s face.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : O people, where did you go from the saying of Allah the Exalted:
Tell the believing men to reduce [some] of their vision
[An-Nur 24:30]
The solution to the problem is not merely covering; it requires an internal restraint. The internal restraint is what our Lord, Mighty and Majestic, hinted at when He said:
(30) Tell the believing men to reduce [some] of their vision and guard their private parts. That is purer for them. Indeed, Allah is Acquainted with what they do. (31) And tell the believing women to reduce [some] of their vision and guard their private parts
[An-Nur 24:30-31]
Why did He address the women? Because they must see the most beautiful thing in men, which, in their expression, is the face. Now, why did He say to the men:
Tell the believing men to reduce [some] of their vision and guard their private parts
[An-Nur 24:30]
Because their gaze must inevitably fall upon the most beautiful thing in a woman, which is her face. Therefore, He said to both groups: lower your eyes, some of you from some. What do they say? That it is a denial of the texts of the Book and the Sunnah. They lower their eyes, meaning, as our companion said, the wind came at that moment and lifted the veil, for example, from the face. And what? He saw the averted gaze. My brother, the wind is not going to allow you, nor is it going to allow you to enable your gaze or sight to take a second look. It is not that he is winning and the time passes, but there is nothing fixed and exposed; avert your gaze from it. And so is the upbringing in Islam, not by coercion: "Oh Allah, cover the woman, even her face, even herself, it is not permissible for her to breathe like people." We know women who, when they put on a veil like this under their eyes, they feel short of breath. So praise be to Allah, our Lord made it as He said:
For indeed, with hardship [will be] ease.
[Ash-Sharh 94:5]
So if a woman wants to hold fast to what is better, she has the right to cover, and that is undoubtedly more honorable for her. But if you see a woman, or she sees a woman, enjoying what Allah has permitted her of revealing her face, do not say to her: "Woe to you, what are you doing? You are the author of so-and-so, the strict one, famous for what? Permitting the exposure?"The Shaykh : The strict one, famous for what? Permitting the exposure?

The questioner : On those who permitted the exposure.

The Shaykh : The people of tabarruj (a woman's display of her adornment) and exposure.

The questioner : The people of tabarruj (a woman's display of her adornment) and exposure.

The Shaykh : The concept of the people of tabarruj (a woman's display of her adornment) is:
and do not display yourselves as [was] the display of the former times of ignorance
[Al-Ahzab 33:33]
As for the exposure, this is the face about which the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said in clear Arabic:
When a woman reaches the age of menstruation, it is not permissible for anyone to see of her except her face and her hands.
