The questioner : I heard that interlacing the fingers is not recommended. I hope the Shaykh will comment on that?

The Shaykh : Interlacing the fingers is prohibited for one who is going to prayer, or who is sitting in the mosque waiting for prayer, or who is in prayer, and it is not part of good manners. As for anything other than that, there is no harm in it. It is permissible for a person to interlace his fingers after prayer, because this was established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). This was when he said the closing salam in one of the two evening prayers, either the midday prayer or the afternoon prayer, before he completed his prayer. Then he moved forward to a wooden bench displayed in the mosque, leaned on it, and interlaced his fingers. What some people think, that interlacing the fingers is prohibited at all times, is an error. It was established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:
A believer to another believer is like a building whose different parts enforce each other." The Prophet (ﷺ) then clasped his hands with the fingers interlaced المؤمن للمؤمن كالبنيان يشُد بعضه بعضاً، وشبك بين أصابعه صلى الله عليه وعلى ءاله وسلم
