The questioner : He says, I heard from one of the brothers that the phrase "May Allah the Great be truthful" after recitation is a religious innovation. Is this correct?

The Shaykh : Yes, concluding the recitation of the Qur'an by saying "May Allah the Great be truthful" is a religious innovation, because it is not reported from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) or from his Companions that they used to conclude their recitation by saying "May Allah the Great be truthful".
It is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:
You must then follow my sunnah and that of the rightly-guided caliphs. Hold to it and stick fast to it. Avoid novelties, for every novelty is an innovation, and every innovation is an error.
Sunan Abi Dawud 4607Sahih (Al-Albani)
Therefore, the reciter should, when he finishes his recitation, end it with the last verse he recites without adding anything to it. Yes.
