Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : I came with my family to reside in the Kingdom, and in my residence permit it is written that she is not allowed to work, since she is accompanying her father, who is her sponsor. Is it permissible for her in the Shari'ah to work, or if I work, will I be sinful and the earnings will be haram (forbidden) wealth? And if I work at home sewing clothes for the neighbors, is this work considered haram (forbidden)? I want my work to be pure for His face and not mixed with anything haram (forbidden).

The Shaykh : Yes. It is haram (forbidden) for her to exceed the conditions written for her when her residence was granted. So if one of the conditions is that she does not work, it is obligatory for her not to work, by the saying of Allah the Exalted:
O you who have believed, fulfill [all] contracts. يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ ءامَنُوا أَوْفُوا بِالْعُقُودِ
[Al-Ma'idah 5:1]
and by His saying the Exalted:
And fulfill [every] commitment. Indeed, the commitment is ever [that about which one will be] questioned. وَأَوْفُوا بِالْعَهْدِ إِنَّ الْعَهْدَ كَانَ مَسْؤولًا
[Al-Isra 17:34]
.
As for slight work, such as mending her clothes, her father's clothes, and the neighbors' clothes, there is no harm in it, because this does not fall under the prohibition, as it appears to us. Yes.

The questioner : May Allah reward you. This questioner is from Algeria.
