The Story of the Shaykh al-Islam with the Tatars.

The Shaykh : It is reported about Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allah have mercy on him) that he passed by a group of Tatars. The Tatars are a people whom Allah empowered over the people; they came from the East and occupied the Islamic lands. They committed great evils that the human mind cannot imagine. They would enter the alleys, meaning the narrow streets, and knock on the doors of the residents. Then they would order the men to come out, and they would say to a man, "Put your head on a stone," and to his companion, "Strike your companion's head with another stone." They would bring out the women with their pregnancies in their wombs and cut open their bellies, may Allah protect us, and take out their fetuses from their bellies. In any case, their story is well known. Even Ibn al-Athir (may Allah have mercy on him), when he wanted to speak about their story, said: "I would put one man forward and another back in mentioning or narrating their history, but I saw that the integrity of history requires me to mention them".
