The Shaykh : Not everyone who says a statement of disbelief or performs an act of disbelief becomes a disbeliever. There may be some impediments that prevent him from being a disbeliever. We give as an example the authentic hadith from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) when he said:
Indeed, Allah is more joyful with the repentance of His servant than a man who lost his mount in a desert, and upon it was his food and drink. What is the mount? The student: ... . The Shaykh: What is the mount? The last one. The student: ... . The Shaykh: Okay, rest. The camel; he lost his camel, and upon it was his food and drink. So he sought it but did not find it, so he slept under a tree waiting for death. Because he had no food or drink with him, while he was thus, he saw the rein of his camel hanging on the tree. So he took it and said: "O Allah, You are my servant and I am Your Lord." He made a mistake due to the intensity of his joy.

.
And yet, this speaker is not declared a disbeliever because he said this statement without intent; he made a mistake. Had he said it with intent, it would have been disbelief, for Allah is the Lord and the servant is the servant. This statement made the Lord a servant and the servant a Lord, but he said it by mistake; it slipped from his tongue due to the intensity of his joy that he said this.
