The Shaykh : Among the names of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) are al-Quddus, and al-Quddus means the One who is free from and pure of every defect and deficiency. Allah the Exalted said:
the Sovereign, the Pure, the Perfection الملك القدوس السلام
[Al-Hashr 59:23]
So Allah named Himself al-Quddus and named Himself al-Salam. He began with al-Quddus because it is purification, and with al-Salam because it is prevention of deficiency in the future. So al-Quddus is the erasure of past deficiency, if it is considered to have existed, and al-Salam is the prevention of future deficiency. For this reason he said:
"And He is al-Salam in truth, safe*** from all likening to creation and from any deficiency"
Allah the Exalted said:
the Sovereign, the Pure, the Perfection الملك القدوس السلام
[Al-Hashr 59:23]
And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
for Allah is As-Salam فإن الله هو السلام
