The Meanings of the Names of Allah (Al-Salam) (Al-Quddus).

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh :
The Holy One
That is, the One possessing sanctity, which is purity and freedom from every defect.
Peace السلام
That is, the One safe from every defect, from every shortcoming. The Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) used to say: "Peace be upon Allah from His servants, peace be upon Jibril and Mikail." So the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade them and said:
Do not say "Peace (As-Salam) be upon Allah لا تقولوا السلام على الله من عباده
Sunan an-Nasa'i 1169Sahih (Darussalam)
Why? Because Allah is Al-Salam (the Source of Peace). The greeting of peace is only for one who may be subject to shortcoming. As for Allah (Mighty and Majestic), He is Al-Salam, and no shortcoming befalls Him. Therefore, it is not permissible for you to say, "Peace be upon you from me, O my Lord," or "Peace be upon Allah from His servants." This is forbidden, because if you say this, you imply that Allah may be subject to shortcoming. And that is not the case. They also used to say, "Peace be upon Jibril and Mikail." How many did they greet? Answer, everyone. Peace be upon Allah is one. Peace be upon Jibril and Mikail. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade them from saying "Peace be upon Allah from His servants." Then he guided them to replace the word "upon Jibril and Mikail" with something more general. He said:
As-salamu 'alaina a 'ala ibad illahis-salihin (All compliments, prayers and pure words are due to Allah. Peace be upon you O Prophet, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. Peace be upon us and upon the righteous slaves of Allah.) If you say that, it will be for every righteous slave in the heavens and on earth
Sunan an-Nasa'i 1298Sahih (Darussalam)
. Upon Jibril and Mikail, how many are they greeting? Upon Jibril and Mikail, how many are they greeting? Two. Two of the righteous servants of Allah. Upon the righteous servants of Allah, upon every righteous servant in the heavens and the earth. So, upon all the angels, upon all the righteous of the children of Adam, upon all the righteous of the jinn. And the question for the brother: Are there righteous ones among the jinn? What is the evidence?
The student:
And among us are the righteous, and among us are [others] not so
[Al-Jinn 72:11]
.

The Shaykh : His saying, Exalted is He:
And among us are the righteous, and among us are [others] not so
[Al-Jinn 72:11]
Are there Muslims among the jinn?
The student: Yes.

The Shaykh : What is the evidence?
The student: His saying, Exalted is He:
And among us are Muslims [in submission to Allah], and among us are the unjust
[Al-Jinn 72:14]
.

The Shaykh : His saying, Exalted is He:
And among us are Muslims [in submission to Allah], and among us are the unjust
[Al-Jinn 72:14]
. So, there are Muslims among the jinn, and there are righteous ones among the jinn. And they are higher than the Muslims. The prayer of the one praying, "and upon the righteous servants of Allah," includes every righteous servant. Does it include the righteous nations from before? The answer? Yes, by his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
for all the pious slave of Allah in the Heavens and the Earth
Sahih al-Bukhari 6230
those who are present and those who have passed away before. And let us stop here, because the time has reached six o'clock now, so that we may make half an hour for questions. Yes.

The questioner : In the name of Allah, and all praise is for Allah, and may the prayer and peace be upon the best of Allah's creation, our master and our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and his Companions, and upon those who follow his path and are guided by his guidance until the Day of Judgment.

The Shaykh : Amen.
