The Evidence of the People of the Sunnah, Which Is the Book and the Sunnah and the Consensus of the Companions, and Clarification of Whether the Statement of a Companion Is a Proof or Not

The Shaykh : And those who follow them with good conduct until the Day of Resurrection. It has been mentioned previously that the author (may Allah have mercy on him) described the two camps and the turning of the wheel of the great war between the two lines, then he concluded with the chapter in which he said:
"Chapter
Knowledge is what Allah said, what His Messenger said, and what the Companions said, for they are the ones of true understanding"
This beneficial, legal knowledge is built upon these three things: the saying of Allah the Exalted, which is what came in His Book; the second is the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), which is what is authentic from his Sunnah; and the third is the saying of the Companions, meaning the consensus of the Companions. These three are the proofs of the Muslims: the speech of Allah, the speech of His Messenger, and the speech of the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) regarding consensus. As for when it comes from one of the Companions, the scholars differed on whether it is a proof. The majority of the scholars of knowledge said: It is not a proof, it is not a proof. And others said: Rather, it is a proof, but on the condition that it does not contradict an explicit text and that it does not contradict another Companion. If it contradicts an explicit text, then the text is what is relied upon. And if it contradicts another Companion, then preference is sought, and the stronger opinion is the truth. This is closer to correctness because the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) are the most knowledgeable people in the religion of Allah, due to their closeness to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), their distance from disagreement, the soundness of their creed, and other factors of preference. For this reason, the author said:
"They are the ones of true understanding", the people of knowledge.
"Knowledge does not set you up for foolish disagreement between the Messenger and the opinion of so-and-so"
Truly, this is not knowledge: to set up disagreement between yourself and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and to be argumentative, arguing with falsehood to refute the truth.
"No, and no denial, no, and no denial of the attributes"
"What knowledge has set you up, what knowledge has set you up", with an open fatha, based on the fact that "ma" is Hijazi, and the language of the Hijaz is the famous, relied-upon language.
"Knowledge does not set you up for foolish disagreement between the Messenger and the opinion of so-and-so".
