Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : The author (may Allah have mercy on him) said:
"And you have committed two matters, how many nations they have destroyed *** in the ages past
Prioritizing the opinions of men over what *** the Messenger said and the clear Qur'an"

Now, this means he is addressing these people of denial (ta'til) by saying that they have committed two matters that destroyed nations in the ages past. The first matter is prioritizing the opinions of men over the Book and the Sunnah, as he said:
"Prioritizing the opinions of men over what *** the Messenger said and the clear Qur'an" and over the clear Qur'an. So if you bring them evidence from the Book and the Sunnah, they say, "So-and-so said such and such." Thus, they oppose the saying of Allah and His Messenger with the saying of so-and-so. It is narrated from Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said:
Stones will soon be sent down from the sky upon you. I say, "The Messenger of Allah said," and you say, "Abu Bakr and Umar said." يوشك أن تنزل عليكم حجارة من السماء أقول قال رسول الله وتقولون قال أبو بكر وعمر
This is Abu Bakr and 'Umar; if anyone opposes the saying of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) with their saying, he will soon be struck by stones from the sky. How much more so for one who opposes the saying of Allah and His Messenger with someone far inferior to them? This is closer to being spontaneous than one who opposes the saying of Allah and His Messenger with the saying of Abu Bakr and 'Umar.
