The questioner : What is the thing that benefits the deceased after his death and continues for him until the Day of Resurrection? Are they...

The Shaykh : And what is it?

The questioner : And continues for him until the Day of Resurrection, are they the religious books or the flowing water? And what is meant by ongoing charity?

The Shaykh : As for the statementThe questioner : until the Day of Resurrection, no one can be certain of this. No matter what the objects are, a person cannot be certain that they will remain until the Day of Resurrection. But ongoing charity is what the deceased did before he died, and it refers to something permanent, such as mosques, schools, books, shelters for the poor, and the like. These remain for the deceased and benefit him after his death, based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
When a man dies, his action discontinues from him except three things, namely, perpetual sadaqah (charity), or the knowledge by which benefit is acquired, or a pious child who prays for him. إذا مات الإنسان انقطع عمله إلا من ثلاثة: صدقةٍ جارية، أو علمٍ ينتفع به، أو ولد صالح يدعو له
Sunan Abi Dawud 2880Sahih (Al-Albani)
The best of these three is knowledge from which benefit is derived, because ongoing charity is consumed, and a righteous child dies, but knowledge remains. If you wish to verify this, look at the scholars who died hundreds of years ago; you will find that their books are in the hands of people today, who benefit from them, as if they are teaching them. For this reason, I urge our youth to seek religious knowledge, by which they benefit themselves in their lives and after their deaths, and by which they benefit the Muslims, and indeed they benefit Islam. Nothing surpasses religious knowledge. I mean that learning religious knowledge is better than jihad in the path of Allah, because the Ummah needs it in all fields of life; that is, they need knowledge. Jihad is a defense of Islam and is beneficial only in the aspect of jihad. Perhaps the benefit in it is general, but it is not like knowledge. Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "Nothing surpasses knowledge for one whose intention is sincere" He said, "Nothing surpasses it", and he is the Imam of the people of the Sunnah, the hadith scholar, the jurist, saying that nothing surpasses it.
I urge the youth to learn religious knowledge taken from the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), with the assistance of the words of the previous scholars of knowledge who spent their lives researching and investigating issues and evidence. Yes.

The questioner : May Allah reward you, O Shaykh. The questioner says in this question, the female questioner says.
