Are the common people excused for their ignorance?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : May Allah reward you. Some of the leaders of the people of innovation incite the common people against the people of tawhid (the oneness of Allah), saying, "These are Wahhabis and disbelievers, and they must be killed," and so on.

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : So they kill them. Do they commit a sin, O Shaykh, or not?

The Shaykh : Who commits the sin?

The questioner : These common people, or is it said?

The Shaykh : They do not become disbelievers, they do not become disbelievers, because they are ignorant.

The questioner : Do they commit a sin?

The Shaykh : Yes, there is no doubt that they are sinful. But if they know nothing, and the call to tawhid (the oneness of Allah) has been distorted in their eyes, and they have been told that it is a false call, and the like of that, they may be deceived by this. Their case is left to Allah; Allah knows best what is in their hearts. They must be opposed, and they must be prevented from this matter.
