The Shaykh’s opinion on the tapes of Salman and Safar, and his advice for resolving the dispute between the disputants.

The Shaykh : I do not benefit anything from this, because I have listened to many, many tapes. I said earlier that I listened to Salman’s tapes and took issue with him on some points. I listened to Safar’s tapes and did not take issue with him on anything. But when a person listens to a tape, without a doubt he understands it within the limits of two things he possesses: one is acquired knowledge, and the other is a good disposition. On the basis of these two, he is able to interpret what he hears. So when you record excerpts from a man’s speech and tell me to study them, if I see that I do not benefit anything, I want to benefit the Muslim man with us on the Salafi line, but he is zealous and is not willing to practically apply in himself the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): So I advise you, once again, that it is not permissible for you to rely on your own understanding of these words to the extent of declaring the man a sinner. I hear a zealous Salafi responding to me: “Do you see the one with the blond hair? He remains without dyeing it, meaning he has no dye.” This is not understood. So I want to say that you should benefit from the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): You should take the viewpoint of this man who has grayed in the call to Allah, with his ups and downs, and this professor preacher, and this student of knowledge, and so on. What is their opinion of these words?
