about the hadith: "A man whose name is the name of an animal will rule the Peninsula."

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Al-Halabi : In these days, people talk a lot about everything, even about things that do not deserve to be spoken about.

The Shaykh : By Allah, yes.
Al-Halabi : Among the things that, unfortunately, some preachers speak about on the pulpits, they mention a very strange hadith whose text is denounced. But we want, as it is said, "the certain news from Jahina."

The Shaykh : May Allah preserve you.
Al-Halabi : They say that a man whose name is the name of an animal will rule the Peninsula, and so on and so forth.

The Shaykh : The apparent view, and Allah knows best, is that politics which has no religion is doing its work. And I think you, along with some of our brothers, remember well that I used to mention on some occasions that when I began to understand something of this noble science, the science of Prophetic hadith, and I knew that there are groups of liars and fabricators, and that they are of different types with different motives, I used to think at that time that the era of fabricating hadith had ended. That was what I used to think. But with continued interaction with people, it became clear to me that fabrication is still doing its work. Yes, and the same previous causes are, as it is said, history repeating itself. So now, the politics that, as I said earlier, has no religion, is now exploiting the existing disagreement among Arab states and the blocs and partisanship, some for these and some for those, to create effects and hadiths that may be of the kind that "time has passed over them and they have been forgotten." Then some events and fitnahs arise, and they find some superficial and formal correspondence between this reality and those reports, and the people of desires stir them up, not distinguishing between what is authentic and what is not, and between what is a hadith raised to the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) and what is not raised. This is an introduction before the time of today.
The Shaykh: This hadith, without a doubt, I have been asked about it on this occasion more than once. So my answer is that we have not seen it, not even in the fabricated hadiths. I do not rule out that a hadith like this might exist in some books of literature, for example, which usually narrate whatever comes to mind, as it is said. So people come across this hadith and cling to it because it matches a certain reality. So, without a doubt, I imagine that the one who cites this report is doing so in the context of the Iraqi fitnah against Kuwait and against the other Arab states, and against Saudi Arabia. They want to apply this hadith to the ruler of Saudi Arabia. Where were these people before this period regarding such a report or this hadith which does not exist? In addition to this, I say that I have known for months that some political writers have written a book against the Saudi kings, including the current ruling king, and that they wanted to print it with some publishers in this country, but they refused for fear of causing a political problem. Now, this blind, mute, and deaf fitnah has arisen, unfortunately, and they have started publishing small papers. I was told that some of them were published, and I have not received any of them. They contain this hadith and similar things that are absolutely not authentic. Therefore, we warn ourselves generally, all of us, not to enter these political battles that are currently taking place, because the matter is a time of fitnah, as we explained in a previous session. And whatever has passed, whenever something new arises of such intellectual fitnahs, and oh, glory to Allah, before I left my house to come here, a woman called out to me. And before this call, a woman in the morning asked me about this hadith. I repeat the question from another woman before I came here. The hadith says, and it is in "Sahih Muslim," the hadith is from the route of Jabir...

The questioner : Peace be upon you.

The Shaykh : And upon you be peace and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. The hadith is narrated from Jabir in "Sahih Muslim" and others. It has three parts. One is related to Iraq, given the current reality. The second part is related to Sham, and the third part is related to the Mahdi. The third part is raised to the Messenger. Jabir says, "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
there would be a caliph in the last (period) of my Ummah who would freely give handfuls of wealth to the people without counting it يكون في آخر أمّتي خليفة يحثو المال حثوا لا يعدّه عدا
Sahih Muslim 2913a
" This is a raised and authentic hadith. The first two parts are from Jabir, who said, "A time will come when Iraq will be prevented from its qafiz, and a time will come for Sham when it will be prevented from its mudd." So people now see this reality and this siege imposed on Iraq. If it is prevented from its qafiz, do you know what is meant by it? It is similar to a basket in which flour or wheat or something similar is placed. So some minds become alert when this hadith passes by them: perhaps this hadith will be applied to our reality today. The question was about this, the question of the woman in the morning: Is this hadith authentic or not? The question in the evening: Does the hadith have a connection to our current reality? My answer, of course, was that the hadith is authentic, but it has no connection to our time. The hadith has two meanings. The first meaning is that the Muslims will expand in the Islamic conquests and impose the jizyah on the Iraqi and Sham lands, and they will return it to them. Then one of two things will happen: either these lands will submit, and that is what happened, in which case the jizyah will be lifted from them, so nothing of these jizyahs, including food, will be returned. Or this will happen at the end of time, when these lands will revert to what they were of disbelief, so they will not provide the Muslims with anything of the jizyah, the qafiz, the mudd, or the like. The point of this is that this is an authentic hadith, but it is thrown into the minds of some people that it has a connection to the current fitnah. The reality is that this hadith is in "Sahih Muslim," and it was explained by Imam al-Nawawi and others, and they mentioned this meaning that I mentioned earlier. Now we will pray Maghrib, and then, if Allah wills, is there anything else with you, or not? The turn is now for the professor, and perhaps he has not forgotten his hadith. Before your hadith, I want to add to my own hadith. These young men have established a good sunnah, and its completion is that they come forward to us.

The questioner : We do not want to be narrow-minded with Abu Layla, for fear that he will invalidate [our efforts] and invite us like...

The Shaykh : No, he is not one of them!

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : Hahaha, I forgot to mention in my previous speech the hadith of Jabir that I mentioned, which has three parts. I mentioned in the first part Iraq and that it is prevented from its qafiz, and in the second part Sham and that it is prevented from its mudd. I forgot to mention that Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) was asked in both paragraphs, regarding Iraq, who is preventing this? From whom? He said, "From the non-Arabs." And this is one of the reasons for stirring up the hadith in this time. And when he spoke about Sham, he was asked, from whom? He said, "From the Romans." So if you remember with me this explanation and that from Jabir, then the previous speech becomes clear. The non-Arabs submitted, so they were prevented from what? Their qafiz. And the Romans submitted, so they were prevented from their qafiz. This has been realized historically. And it may return, as we said earlier, the lands may return to disbelief, so they will be prevented, all the more so, from what is obligatory upon them of the jizyah. This is what I wanted to add to myself. And now, bring your hadith.
