The questioner : We have a relative, my sister’s husband, who is her cousin. He is a Sufi. The intellect he has regarding Sufism is such that he cannot even dig a well. Why does he tell you that these are the people of the righteous Salaf? They recite the Basmalah in a way that is not prescribed, and they perform actions that have no authority from the Shari'ah. I am pleased with them wherever they are. When he sees a Shaykh, he does not name him. He comes out of the mosque and goes to the Shaykh to curseThe Shaykh : him, saying, "Allah is sufficient for us, and He is the best Disposer of affairs, against you." He prays the Fajr prayer five minutes before the Zuhr prayer. The Shaykh : Sufficient for us is Allah, and He is the best Disposer of affairs. You should pray the Fajr prayer five minutes before the Zuhr prayer.

The Shaykh : Why?

The questioner : He says it is permissible for him to pray any prayer: the prayer for the absent, the funeral prayer, the 'Isha' prayer, the Zuhr prayer, the Fajr prayer, the 'Asr prayer, or the Maghrib prayer. I brought him the book "The Demise of Sufism." He said, "This must be burned." I brought him the book you issued and authored, "The Description of the Prophet's Prayer," and I told him, "Read about our teacher and our Shaykh, and read and reflect deeply. I have brought you all these books as a gift at my own expense, on the condition that you gain knowledge. Let us take you to our teachers for two or three nights, and they will teach you. This teacher, they say,The Shaykh : goes to the prophets in Wadi al-Shu'ayb, in al-Yasi', and in the Ghor, and seeks nearness to Allah through them. So what is your ruling on him?

The Shaykh : Okay, where does this man live? Is he near you?

The questioner : He is near us.

The Shaykh : What do you think about gathering with him?

The questioner : I swear to Allah, I am honored. I want to take a day from him and set a time with you. I have your phone number in my pocket. I had a debt last year before you went out for Hajj. You facilitated the Hajj on a Wednesday. I spoke with you on a Monday, on the basis that the lunch would be on Wednesday through my brother, Professor Abu AhmadThe Shaykh : 'Abd al-'Aziz, because he and Abu Islam and Abu 'Abdullah are our Shuyukh.

The Shaykh : May Allah bless you all.

The questioner : And always, we receive knowledge from them. We bring them to our place and go to their homes.

The Shaykh : This is a favor from Allah upon you, that He has provided you with such noble people.

The questioner : I mean, if anyone says any word about them, we find that we have burned it. Abu Ahmad was absent for a week for 'Umrah. I swear to Allah, the night he left, he prayed two and a half units with us, and I have a leg that is bound. I felt like the surah
Say, "He is Allah, [who is] One, قل هو الله أحد
[Al-Ikhlas 112:1]
. So I want to hear you speak about this, perhaps Allah

The Shaykh : Come on, hasten with good. How old is this man?

The questioner : Over sixty.

The Shaykh : Who is he in contact with?

The questioner : WithThe Shaykh : 'Abd al-Hafiz.

The Shaykh : Where is this 'Abd al-Hafiz?

The questioner : He is in al-Hashim. They say he lives with the Tabl. He tells you, "This is halal, this is Subhan." From the first wall to the last wall, he has written "Allah." We were the first with them. May Allah have mercy onThe Shaykh : 'Ali... and he was our teacher. We were in ignorance, so we woke up and made an X mark on him immediately and stuck to our Shuyukh and teachers, these who are your students. For every word we see, we immediately pick up the phone: "Ya 'Ali 'Attar, he said such and such, what do you think?" Either he says, "This is correct," or he says, "This is not correct."

The Shaykh : What Allah willed, may Allah increase you in knowledge, understanding, and light.

The questioner : Do you want me to promise you my request? Because you promised me after the Hajj. You promised me you would have lunch with me after this year's Hajj. We kept trying. My brother Abu Ahmad, he and Abu Islam, when they spoke, I was at Abu Ahmad's house. I congratulated him on the 'Umrah. I said, "Ya Abu Usamah, now do you want to speak?" He said, "Now our teacher is sleeping." I said to him, "He is sleeping, do you want to speak?" Be it so, there is no war, but I go to pray with other Shuyukh and find their prayer like Mount Uhud. I did not hear, I did not see, I did not pray, I did not see.

The Shaykh : What Allah willed, blessed are you with your Imams. But it seems to me that one of two things is the case: one is undoubtedly correct, and the other must be wrong. One is that it appears you are more patient than necessary, even to the point that you were patient with me from the Hajj until nearly the second Hajj. This is first. Second, when I came to you this night, did we not fulfill the promise?

The questioner : Praise be to Allah, and this is a favor from our Lord upon us.

The Shaykh : If both are correct, that is fine. Nevertheless, I am ready to meet with this man at any time you determine, after you give us news of the appointment.

The questioner: May Allah will it.
