Is the analogy of the drum to the hand drum in what is permissible of it a valid analogy?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Is the analogy of the drum to the hand drum in what is permissible of it a valid analogy?

The Shaykh : Is the analogy of what?

The questioner : The drum to the hand drum in what is permissible of it, is the analogy valid?

The Shaykh : No, it is not permissible. The analogy, my brother, is not permissible where there is an explicit text. There are many texts that forbid all musical instruments in all their types and forms. So when a text permits a specific type of those instruments, such as the hand drum at weddings and on the two festivals, we stop there. It is not permissible for us to draw an analogy from it, because in the course of this analogy we would be contradicting the general text. Is the answer clear? This would be one of the most invalid analogies on earth.
