Explaining that the call to Allah the Exalted must be based on religious knowledge

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : And His saying, Mighty and Majestic:
Call to the way of your Lord. ادْعُ إِلَى سَبِيلِ رَبِّكَ
It becomes clear that knowledge is necessary. Why? One must know what he is calling people to, that it is from the legislation of Allah. So one learns first, then calls second. As for calling to the path of Allah while not knowing the path of Allah, how is that possible?! For this reason, Allah the Exalted said in another verse:
Say, “This is my path; I call to Allah with insight, قُلْ هَذِهِ سَبِيلِي أَدْعُو إِلَى اللَّهِ عَلَى بَصِيرَةٍ
with knowledge. So it is necessary that a person be knowledgeable about what he is calling to, that it is the truth and from the Shari'ah of Allah. As for merely having the idea arise in his mind that this is the truth without scriptural evidence, it is not permissible for him to speak, because Allah says:
And do not pursue that of which you have no knowledge وَلا تَقْفُ مَا لَيْسَ لَكَ بِهِ عِلْمٌ
[Al-Isra 17:36]
And Allah, Mighty and Majestic, says:
Say, "My Lord has only forbidden immoralities - what is apparent of them and what is concealed - and sin, and oppression without right, and that you associate with Allah that for which He has not sent down authority, and that you say about Allah that which you do not know."
[Al-A'raf 7:33]

The Shaykh : Do you memorize the Qur'an or not?
Say, "My Lord has only forbidden قُلْ إِنَّمَا حَرَّمَ رَبِّيَ
[Al-A'raf 7:33]
.
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : What is the evidence from this verse for the prohibition of calling to Allah without knowledge?
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : Well done, may Allah reward you. It is necessary that a person be knowledgeable about the Shari'ah. So if you see a person praying but he does not settle in his prayer, saying: "Allahu ma' shakira li man hamidah, Rabbana wa lakal hamd," and then immediately prostrates without settling, is it permissible for you to say to him: "Your prayer is invalid" without knowledge? Answer? It is not permissible. How can you call to something you do not know about? But if you know that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to the one who was praying but did not settle:
go back and pray for indeed you have not prayed. ارجع فصلِ فإنك لم تصلِ
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2692Sahih (Darussalam)
At that point, you have evidence and you can call to Allah.
