The story of the brave man in war who killed himself during the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : And I am giving you an example of these two states that occurred during the time of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him):
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was on a military expedition, and with them was a good, brave man who did not leave the enemy any slack or weakness but dealt with it. The Companions were impressed by him because he was no ordinary man. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
he belongs to the people of Fire
Sahih al-Bukhari 6607
I seek refuge in Allah. This was a great shock to the Companions: how could this bold, brave man, who did not leave the enemy any slack or weakness but dealt with it, be among the people of the Fire? But the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) had a precise understanding. A man said:
By Allah, I will keep this man in mind and see what his ending will be.
Because they truly believed the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), even if the appearance contradicted what seemed to be the case from the words of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). But they believed him. He was confident that this man would inevitably be sealed with a bad ending. But he kept watching to see what would happen. So while this man was fighting, he was hit by an arrow. An arrow from whom? From the enemy. He panicked: how can I, a brave, bold man who deals with the enemy, be hit by an arrow? So he took the point of his sword, sheathed it, then placed it on his chest and leaned on it until it came out of his back. I seek refuge in Allah. What happened? He killed himself. And it is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) that
Whoever kills himself with something, he will be tortured with it in the Fire of Hell, eternally, forever in it.
This is how it came in the hadith: eternally, forever in it. If he did it with a weapon, he will be tortured with the weapon in the Fire of Hell. If he did it with poison, he will be tortured with it in the Fire of Hell. If he threw himself from a mountain, he will be thrown into Hell with it, eternally, forever. He was sealed with what? With a bad ending. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said, following that: Yes. Then the man who had been following him came to the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) and said:
I testify that None has the right to be worshipped except Allah, and that you are the Messenger of Allah.
Sahih al-Bukhari 3938
He said: With what? He said: The man you said yesterday was among the people of the Fire did such and such. So he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
A man may do what may seem to the people as the deeds of the dwellers of Paradise
Sahih al-Bukhari 4207
Pay attention to this point.
in what appears to people
Meaning his heart, and I seek refuge in Allah, was black.
apparently before people and he would be amongst the dwellers of Hell
Sahih Muslim 112b
This man is of which of the two types? The one who does the deeds of the people of Paradise until there is nothing between him and it but an arm's length, or the one who does the deeds of the people of the Fire? The first or the second? The first. This is the example.
