Discussion of the Sacred Months and the reason for their name.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : As for what follows, O my brothers, we are about to enter the month of Muharram, one of the Sacred Months that Allah has specified in His Noble Book. He the Exalted said:
Indeed, the number of months with Allah is twelve [lunar] months in the register of Allah [from] the day He created the heavens and the earth; of these, four are sacred. That is the correct religion إن عدة الشهور عند الله اثنا عشر شهرا في كتاب الله يوم خلق السماوات والأرض منها أربعة حرم ذلك الدين القيم
[At-Tawbah 9:36]
. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) explained that these four Sacred Months consist of three consecutive months and one separate month. As for the three consecutive months, they are: Dhu al-Qa'dah, Dhu al-Hijjah, and Muharram. As for the separate one, it is Rajab. For this reason, some people call it Rajab al-Fard (the single Rajab) because it is separate from the three months. These months are sacred because people intend to visit the House of Allah the Mighty and Majestic during them. Dhu al-Qa'dah and Muharram are for traveling to the House, and Dhu al-Hijjah is for performing the rites of Hajj. Or rather, for performing the rituals of Hajj. For this reason, they are sacred, and fighting is forbidden in them, and they are given special attention in avoiding the oppression of oneself. For this reason, He said:
so do not wrong yourselves during them فلا تظلموا فيهن أنفسكم
[At-Tawbah 9:36]
