The Sacred Months and the Ruling on Hunting in Them for One Who Is Not in Ihram

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
This questioner, Muhammad Ahmad from Yemen, says: Your Eminence! We ask your Eminence to issue a ruling for us: What are the sacred months? And is hunting permissible in them for one who is not a pilgrim?

Answer:
The sacred months are: Dhu al-Qa'dah, Dhu al-Hijjah, Muharram, and Rajab; four months. Allah the Exalted and Majestic said:
Indeed, the number of months with Allah is twelve [lunar] months in the register of Allah [from] the day He created the heavens and the earth; of these, four are sacred.
[Surah al-Tawbah: 36]. These four; three are consecutive: Dhu al-Qa'dah, Dhu al-Hijjah, and Muharram, which includes Ashura, and the fourth is a single month, which is Rajab, between Jumada and Sha'ban. These are the four sacred months.
Hunting in them is permissible. Fighting in them was forbidden, and the pre-Islamic age of ignorance also warned against it. Then, according to the majority, the prohibition of fighting in them was abrogated, and fighting in them became permissible. The Companions fought the Romans and others, and it is not recorded that they refrained from fighting in the sacred months because they knew that it had been abrogated. As for hunting, there is nothing wrong with it in the sacred months. However, one does not hunt in the Haram of Makkah or the Haram of Madinah; hunting is not permitted in the Haram of Makkah or the Haram of Madinah. But in the sacred months, there is nothing wrong with hunting in Ashura, or in Dhu al-Hijjah, or in Rajab, or in Muharram. There is no blame in that. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with the best reward for us and for the Muslims.
