Is it permissible to delay the Friday prayer and combine the midday prayer with the afternoon prayer for a traveler?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Your Eminence, the Shaykh.

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : Is it permissible to delay the Friday prayer and combine it with the afternoon prayer for a traveler?

The Shaykh : A traveler does not have a Friday prayer. What is this question?

The questioner : I mean, he makes it the midday prayer and delays it to be combined with the afternoon prayer, O Shaykh.

The Shaykh : In the first place, may Allah reward you, if a traveler is not in a town where the Friday prayer is established, then he has no Friday prayer. Does the traveler combine, meaning does he establish the Friday prayer? No. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not establish the Friday prayer during his travels. In fact, the Friday prayer occurred at 'Arafah, and yet he did not pray the Friday prayer; he prayed the midday and afternoon prayers combined. However, if a person is in the town, the Friday prayer will be established at its time and is not combined with the afternoon prayer. So the answer to this question here is: We say that the traveler who is outside the town does not combine, and he has no Friday prayer. Even if he combines, the prayer is invalid. For example, if a group of people were on an outing on a Friday, and some of them said to others, "Let one of you stand as a preacher, deliver two sermons to us, and we will pray the Friday prayer." We say: This is not permissible. This is a religious innovation. And whoever does a deed for which there is no command from Allah and His Messenger, it is rejected. And our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), whom Allah sent as a guide to the servants of Allah, did not establish the Friday prayer while he was a traveler. However, if a person is in the town, he will combine with the people, he will combine with the people, and he does not combine the afternoon prayer with it. Yes.

The questioner : May Allah reward you with good.
