A man came to us saying, about you (may Allah preserve him), that you said

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : He says:The questioner : A man came to us saying, about you (may Allah preserve him), that you said: that the northern extension is not part of the Haram and that prayer in it is not worth a hundred thousand prayers, so we ask you to clarify this?

The Shaykh : Yes, first of all, my brothers, I inform you that many statements are attributed to me that have no basis in truth. Sometimes they are written in books attributed to us. For example, in the Makkah fatwas that were published for us, it is stated that we say that the saying of Allah the Exalted in the verses of zakah, in the verse of the distribution of charity
for the cause of Allah
[At-Tawbah 9:60]
, covers all types of righteousness. This is a lie against us. But perhaps the one who transcribed from my tape heard me say that some scholars said: "
in the way of Allah
[Al-Baqarah 2:154]
It covers all good, it covers all righteousness "
, and he thought that I was saying that. I am telling you now, take it from me:
in the way of Allah
[Al-Baqarah 2:154]
It is specific to jihad in the cause of Allah only; it does not include all types of righteousness, such as building mosques and repairing roads, and the like. Many statements are attributed to us. We ask Allah to absolve us from what we do not say.
Therefore, whoever objects to a statement attributed to me should contact me if he objects to it, because it may be incorrect. But people, for example, if they desire something, if they desire something and see that if they attribute it to themselves it will not be accepted, they say, "Let's lower it to one person so it will go through." This is a mistake.
I say that the multiplication of the reward of prayer does not occur except in this mosque only. That is, a hundred thousand prayers are not obtained if you pray in another mosque in Makkah; they are not obtained. Because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
One should not undertake journeys except to three mosques: al-Masque al-Haram (in Makkah ), the Aqsa mosque, or this mosque (in Madinah).
Bulugh al-Maram 5:58
. Note: Does the Sacred Mosque include the case where a person intends to travel to al-Sha'b Mosque, for example? Do you travel to al-Sha'b Mosque? No, to this mosque. This is the mosque intended by traveling to it, even if you are at the farthest point of the earth. It is the one in which the multiplication occurs, because you travel to it for this great reward. Prayer in it is a hundred thousand prayers, or more, better than a hundred thousand prayers, or a hundred thousand prayers. And in Sahih Muslim, the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
One prayer offered there is better than a thousand prayers offered elsewhere, except the Masjid of the Ka'bah.
Sunan an-Nasa'i 691Sahih (Darussalam)
, except the Mosque of the Ka'bah. This is the word of the Messenger. So where is the Mosque of the Ka'bah? The mosque on Jabal Abi Qubays, or where? Where is the Mosque of the Ka'bah? It is the one we are in, meaning the Sacred Mosque. Therefore, the Sacred Mosque in the other hadith
Salat is this Masjid of mine is better than a thousand Salat in another, except for Masjid Al-Haram.
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 325Sahih (Darussalam)
, the intended meaning of the Sacred Mosque is the Mosque of the Ka'bah, as explained by the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). And thus, what is outside the walls of this mosque is not included in the ruling of this mosque. But if the rows connect and this mosque is filled and the rows connect and people pray in the markets, yes, then it is hoped that the reward of the worshippers in the mosque itself will be recorded for them, because the congregation is one and the rows are connected, and the appearance is one.
But it is permissible for a student of knowledge to object to my words and say: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) descended at al-Hudaybiyyah. Do you know al-Hudaybiyyah? Yes, on the road to Jeddah, it is called al-Shamisiyyah,
He descended at al-Hudaybiyyah in the non-sacred area, outside the Haram, and whenever he wanted to pray, he would enter the Haram and pray in the Haram
, meaning inside the boundaries of the Haram. And this indicates that the Haram has a distinction and virtue. So the intended meaning of the Sacred Mosque is the entire Haram. Can I answer this objection? Or more correctly, can I respond to this objection, because there is a difference between "on" and "about"? Well, yes, I respond to this objection by saying: There is no doubt that the Haram is better than the non-sacred area, and that prayer in the Haram is better than prayer in the non-sacred area. But the matter is regarding the multiplication: a hundred thousand is specific to the Sacred Mosque. As for mere virtue or absolute virtue, there is no doubt that prayer in the Haram is better than prayer in the non-sacred area. Yes.
