The statements of the Companions and the correct reasoning regarding the disbelief of one who abandons prayer.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : As for the statements of the Companions, 'Abdullah ibn Shaqiq (may Allah have mercy on him), who was one of the famous Tabi'un, said:
the companions of God’s Messenger did not consider the abandonment of any good deeds but prayer to be infidelity كان أصحاب رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم لا يرون شيئا من الأعمال تركه كفر غير الصلاة
Mishkat al-Masabih 579
As for reasoning and analogical deduction, how can it be said that a man who persists in abandoning prayer is a believer? Where is the faith? If he had faith in his heart, he would not persist in abandoning prayer, which holds this status in Islam. By this, we know that the stronger opinion among the scholars' views is that one who abandons prayer is a disbeliever, a disbelief that takes him out of the religion, and may Allah protect us from that. And if that is the case.
