His Eminence the Shaykh, and after: I would like to ask, did we come to listen to you, or to those around you whom you did not authorize to speak, who started rambling without knowing what they are saying?

The Shaykh : This is an interjected phrase.
His Eminence the Shaykh, peace be upon you and Allah’s mercy and blessings. I say, and upon you be peace and Allah’s mercy and blessings.
And after: I would like to ask, did we come to listen to you, or to those around you whom you did not authorize to speak, who started rambling without knowing what they are saying? Those around me are these brothers.
The student: Behind you.

The Shaykh : He says around you. In any case, if it is those around me, I do not hear anything but the sound of the paper being turned, and this has no effect. But if he means those around the gathering, I advise these people who are talking, and I say to them that Allah said in His Book:
And those who harm believing men and believing women for [something] other than what they have earned have certainly born upon themselves a slander and manifest sin. والذين يؤذون المؤمنين والمؤمنات بغير ما اكتسبوا فقد احتملوا بهتاناً وإثماً مبيناً
[Al-Ahzab 33:58]
And these people who annoy the listeners have undoubtedly taken upon themselves a slander and a clear sin. And by their action, they have prevented people from the remembrance of Allah, because they occupy people from listening to knowledge, so they are sinful. Then, these mosques were not built for idle talk; rather, these mosques were built for what? For the remembrance of Allah, reciting the Qur'an, and prayer, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said. And whoever wants to talk to others should leave the mosque and talk as much as he wishes. As for the mosques, a person does not talk in them except with what is beneficial. As for idle talk, Allah said in describing the servants of Ar-Rahman: "And when they pass by idle talk, they pass by with dignity." So if the talk is annoying, it is not permissible for them to speak with what annoys people. Indeed, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went out to a group of people who were praying and raising their voices in recitation, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
One should not trouble the other and one should not raise the voice in recitation لا يؤذين بعضكم بعضاً في القراءة
Sunan Abi Dawud 1332Sahih (Al-Albani)
So he made raising the voice that disturbs others an annoyance. My advice to these people, if they must talk, is that they move away from the people so that they do not annoy them by preventing them from listening to the remembrance.
