Exegesis of His saying, the Exalted: “Or do they have a ladder by which they listen”
Then Allah the Exalted said: [Surat al-Tur: 38] Meaning: Rather, do they have a ladder by which they listen? And the ladder: It is the means of ascent and the staircase,And the meaning is: Do they have a ladder by which they ascend to the sky to listen to what is said in the sky?
No, if they claim that, [Surat al-Tur: 38] Meaning: with a clear, manifest proof that they listened to what is said in the sky.
And the answer: They will find no way to do so.
Except for the soothsayers who have a vision from the jinn, who listens to what is said in the sky and then lies a hundred lies about what he heard, so that the one word he heard from the sky is believed.
Then Allah the Exalted said:
Or have they a stairway [into the heaven] upon which they listen
أَمْ لَهُمْ سُلَّمٌ يَسْتَمِعُونَ فِيهِNo, if they claim that,
Then let their listener produce a clear authority.
فَلْيَأْتِ مُسْتَمِعُهُمْ بِسُلْطَانٍ مُبِينٍAnd the answer: They will find no way to do so.
Except for the soothsayers who have a vision from the jinn, who listens to what is said in the sky and then lies a hundred lies about what he heard, so that the one word he heard from the sky is believed.
