Is it obligatory to recite al-Fatihah in the funeral prayer, is it prescribed to raise the hands in it, and are the rows aligned in it?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Is it obligatory to recite al-Fatihah in the funeral prayer? Does the hadith of 'Ubadah ibn al-Samit apply to it? Is it obligatory to align the rows for it? Is it obligatory to say the takbir after the takbir of ihram?

The Shaykh : What?

The questioner : The takbir after the takbir of ihram?

The Shaykh : It is obligatory to recite al-Fatihah in the funeral prayer, based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
There is no prayer for one who does not recite al-Fatihah. لا صلاة لمن يقرأ بفاتحة الكتاب
This is a general statement that includes the funeral prayer. Also, Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him and his father) performed the funeral prayer, recited al-Fatihah, and raised his voice with it, saying:
Let them know that it is a Sunnah ليعلموا أنها سنة
. By his statement "sunnah," he means a way of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). It is not intended by "sunnah" that which is opposed to the obligatory, because "sunnah" in the language of the righteous Salaf includes both the obligatory and the recommended.
As for raising the hands in the funeral prayer, it is prescribed in every takbir: the first, the second, the third, and the fourth. Likewise, if a person adds a fifth, sixth, or seventh, he raises his hands in every takbir.
As for aligning the rows in it, it is like the others; the rows are aligned in it. For this reason, Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) mentioned that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) announced the death of the Negus of Abyssinia and went out with the people to the prayer ground, they lined up behind the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in rows like the rows of prayer.
It is amazing that we see in this Sacred Mosque a strange phenomenon regarding the funeral. When the funeral is brought, those who are close to the imam are found pushing and shoving greatly to be next to the funeral. Then there is also pushing and shoving so that you do not line up; in fact, one of them might be alone. This is not from the Sunnah. Yes.
