Continuation of the answer to the previous question: "Do we attribute to Allah the attribute of the Face from the verse:

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : And what is their evidence? The context, since the context indicates that it is one of the verses of attributes?

The Shaykh : The Salaf differed regarding the saying of Allah the Exalted
So wherever you [might] turn, there is the Face of Allah فأينما تولوا فثم وجه الله
[Al-Baqarah 2:115]
. Some of them said that the intended meaning is the real Face of Allah, and that Allah the Exalted is before the face of the one praying. This is the correct opinion. Accordingly, the verse indicates that it is to be understood according to its apparent meaning, and that the intended meaning is: whichever direction you turn, the Face of Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, is there, that is, before you, if you turn toward that direction. This is supported by the authentic hadith that Allah the Exalted is before you... and that the Exalted is not above the creation in the sense of being high above them, because something can be high and yet be before your face. Have you seen if you faced the sun at sunset or at sunrise, it would be before your face while it is high in the sky? So there is no contradiction between the Highness and Allah the Exalted being before the face of the one praying. And because Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, is not like anything in His attributes, and He is not measured by His creation; rather, His attributes are greater and more noble than for minds to comprehend them.
As for the second opinion of the Salaf regarding this verse, it is that the intended meaning of "Face" is the direction, as Allah the Exalted said
For each [religious following] is a direction toward which it faces ولكل وجهة هو موليها
[Al-Baqarah 2:148]
. So the meaning is that whichever direction you turn, Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, is there, because Allah encompasses everything. Both meanings are correct. And if the verse allows for two correct meanings, it is obligatory to attribute it to both meanings, in order to expand the meaning of the speech of Allah, Mighty and Majestic. Yes.
