The honorable Shaykh, some goods come to me, and I mix the old with the new, knowing that there is nothing defective or spoiled in the old. Is there anything wrong with this?

The questioner : Some goods come to me, and I mix the old with the new, knowing that there is nothing defective or broken in the old ones. Is there anything wrong with this? And is it necessary that I clarify to the buyer, saying: "This is new and this is old"?
The Shaykh : There are items that change with age, and even if they do not spoil in an obvious way, it is not permissible to mix new items with them and sell them as new. Rather, each item must be distinguished separately, because this is part of complete clarification and sincere advice.
And there are items that do not change with the passage of time, so there is no harm in mixing these with those. For example, if a person has metal materials that do not change with time and their craftsmanship has not changed, then mixing some of them with others is not a problem, because the ruling does not change, the price does not change, and the desire for them does not change. So mixing some of them with others is not deception or fraud.
And let it be known that if the two parties in a transaction are truthful and clarify, a blessing will be placed in their sale. And if they lie and conceal, the blessing of their sale will be wiped out. So let the one who deals with people keep this hadith before his eyes always. And let him keep before his eyes also the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):Sahih al-Bukhari 13 And let him keep before his eyes the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): Sahih Muslim 1844a And let him keep before his eyes the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1315Sahih (Darussalam).
And if a person builds his dealings on these great, valuable, and illuminating foundations, let him be glad of good. And let him know that even if he earns a little, Allah will place a blessing in this earnings. And if he deviates from them and earns a lot, there is no good in this much; the blessing is removed from it, so its owner does not benefit from it at all. And he will be, even if his wealth is much, like one who has nothing. And perhaps calamities will seize his wealth and exhaust it. And perhaps he or his family will be afflicted with diseases that exhaust what he earned. So let a person beware of dealing with people in a way he does not like them to deal with him. And success is from Allah.
The questioner : May Allah bless you.
