The Prohibition of Covering Walls: Is It for Prohibition, and Does the Prohibition Apply to Covering One Side or All Sides?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : The prohibition of covering walls has been mentioned. Is this prohibition for prohibition? And does the prohibition apply to covering one side or all sides?

The Shaykh : Covering walls falls into two categories:
The first category is when it is from the outside, covering the house or room as the Ka'bah is covered. There is no doubt that this is prohibited—peace be upon you—because it makes his house resemble the Ka'bah.
As for internal covering, there is nothing wrong with it if a person needs it, whether for protection from cold, protection from heat, or protection from light because he wants to sleep.
Because modern construction, as you know, is cold in winter and hot in summer. So if something of cloth is placed on the wall, it mitigates the cold in winter and mitigates the heat in summer. This is permissible because the intention is not the covering itself, but rather the warmth obtained from the covering in winter, the mitigation of heat in summer, or the light for one who wants to sleep in a way that allows him to rest in his sleep. Yes.
