What is prescribed to be recited in the prayer of the eclipse?

The questioner : O esteemed Shaykh, what is prescribed to be recited in this prayer?

The Shaykh : Yes?

The questioner : What is prescribed to be recited in the prayer of the eclipse?

The Shaykh : In the prayer of the eclipse, it is not prescribed to recite a specific surah; rather, what is prescribed is to lengthen the recitation. However, if one were to recite, for example, a surah containing many admonitions, the time would be appropriate. Some of our Shaykhs recommended reciting Surat al-Isra, because it contains suitable verses, including the saying of Allah the Exalted:
And nothing has prevented Us from sending signs except that the former peoples denied them. And We gave Thamud the she-camel as a visible sign, but they wronged her. And We send not the signs except as a warning.
[Al-Isra 17:59]
. The important thing is to recite whatever is easy for one, but to lengthen the recitation.
