Explanation of the Book of Prayer and Its Times-09b

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: Abu al-Walid Hisham ibn 'Abd al-Malik narrated to us, saying: Shu'bah narrated to us, saying: al-Walid ibn al-'Izr informed me, saying: I heard Abu 'Amr al-Shaybani say: The owner of this house narrated to us, and he pointed to the house of 'Abdullah, saying:
I asked the Prophet (ﷺ) "Which deed is the dearest to Allah?" He replied, "To offer the prayers at their early stated fixed times." I asked, "What is the next (in goodness)?" He replied, "To be good and dutiful to your parents" I again asked, "What is the next (in goodness)?" He replied, 'To participate in Jihad (religious fighting) in Allah's cause." `Abdullah added, "I asked only that much and if I had asked more, the Prophet (ﷺ) would have told me more." سألت النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم أي العمل أحب إلى الله ؟. قال : الصلاة على وقتها ، قال : ثم أي ؟. قال : ثم بر الوالدين ، قال : ثم أي ؟. قال : الجهاد في سبيل الله . قال : حدثني بهن ولو استزدته لزادني
Sahih al-Bukhari 527
.

The Shaykh : His statement: "Chapter on the virtue of prayer at its time", and he did not say "at the beginning of its time" but rather "at its time." This is because the time of prayer may have its beginning as the most virtuous part, or its end as the most virtuous part. Thus, the most virtuous time for the 'Isha' prayer is its end, and the most virtuous time for the remaining prayers is their beginning, except that the Zuhr prayer is delayed in intense heat as a concession to the people. Good.
